Generally, governance may be defined as the exercise of political, economic and administrative authority in the management of a country’s affairs at all levels, It may also be defined as the manner in which public officials and public institutions acquire and exercise the authority to provide public goods and services, infrastructure, and a sound investment climate.

Governance is the process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented focuses on the formal and informal actors involved in making and implementing decisions. Governance requires that everyone’s view be taken into consideration in making decisions.

The goal of governance is to develop capacities that are needed to realize developments that give priority to the poor, advances women, sustains the environment and creates needed opportunities for employment and other livelihoods.
